project brief
Studio 2 is a retail based studio where students are given a particular site to design for using ADA guidelines. Our class, in particular, were given the Kehoe Iron Works building located on 660 E. Broughton St. Savannah, GA. We were to include a ground floor and a mezzanine that covered no more than 1/3 of the building. The criteria was to include three clients (Silo, Freight Farms, and Squeeze) that were given by the professor and to either include movement in the space or art. For this particular project, I choose yoga as the movement in this space.

the iron works use to consist of an iron foundry, a brass foundry, machine, blacksmith, and boiler shops, and various storehouses.
concept
connecting oneself with nature
Just as how water is added to the roots to create life into a tree the diverse community will come together to simplify lives by sharing resources and minimizing impact upon the environment. The design will promote a sense of place and community by providing many opportunities to interact with other residents from within and outside of the community just like the leaves are on a tree.
